If you drop an itemstack, then the PlayerInteractEvent is fired only when you are throwing an item and not looking at a block. This event shouldn't be called at all since there is already an event for it, much less only being called half the time. Jar is attached for reproduction. Listens to PlayerInteractEvent and prints out the Action |

Exact line being called is 1645 in PlayerConnection. Tested via debugg |
