Adult villagers despawn once the chunk is unloaded. Using spawn eggs I spawned a few villager's, warp to another location so the chunk unloads. On returning the villagers are gone. Although, child villagers don't disappear.

Ive been getting comlaints from players about their villagers disappearing for a while, I assumed it was zombies killing them until I investigated further.
