Version: | [22:31:50] [Server thread/INFO]: This server is running CraftBukkit version 4471-Spigot-e339edc-63df70e (MC: 1.21.5) (Implementing API version 1.21.5-R0.1-SNAPSHOT) |
Guidelines Read: | Yes |
Description |
Eversince the 1.21.5 update, we noticed that the nether has become very, very dark (pitch black, not deep red as it usually is), even from short distances. Initially we asssumed this was from Vanilla Minecraft itself, but after entering a vanilla game mode, we confirmed that the nether isn't supposed to be this dark. Turning up the Brightness in Video settings does not fix this. Players have been having trouble navigating through the nether, so we're hoping there's a fix for this. When testing this in vanilla Minecraft, the "darkness" is nowhere near this pitch black. Screenshots attached as below : Disclaimer : These screenshots do infact come from two different players on two different systems. We also do not have any additional resource packs/shader plugins installed on the server. The only plugins enabled during this are EssentialsX, GriefPrevention and LuckPerms. EXHIBIT A, the Minecraft server running with Spigot: {+}EXHIBIT B (Vanilla Minecraft) This does not cause a crash, but it does effect gameplay visibility in the nether, and considering its already dark in there; we hope there's a fix for this. |

You have it set to rain in your nether (which is ignored by Vanilla since Vanilla does not support per-world weather). |

Upload a copy of your world please. Do you have datapacks? Try a completely new server |

md_5 Okay that is very weird. I tried it out again just now, same location, same server, same system/player. I uninstalled Spigot, and reloaded the server on Vanilla, no plugins whatsoever it turns out fine. I reloaded it again with Spigot, no additional plugins, and you can see its significantly darker in Exhibit B. I genuinely don't know how/what else you can do to "recreate this" because it just happens. Is there any other information I could possibly provide you that may help you diagnose this ?
Exhibit A : Vanilla
Exhibit B : Spigot |

I cannot reproduce - nether seems fine to me. See attached screenshot from me |
