When you want to hide players from others but without necessarily removing them from the boardlist, there is nothing similar or easy to do. I think it would be an interesting feature. You could put a boolean parameter to prevent them from being removed or something like that.

This issue is tracked in SPIGOT-7272 already. You might add your ideas there if not covered yet.
