You can reproduce this without the assistance of plugins:
Note: this was not a problem prior to 1.9. I believe the "setShooter" function of projectiles used to have a grace period that prevents the projectile from hitting the shooter when it is first launched. This bug reduces the effectiveness of all plugins that rely on projectile-based combat. |

This really breaks a lot of gun plugins. Crackshot no longer works because of this |

Yeah, we have now referred to it as the "Kill Yourself Bug". Fire at a player or mob and face the consequences :-D |

I have a gun survival servers and this makes player kill themselves when they shoot near a mob. I hope this gets fixed soon. Thank you |

This is a serious problem for plugins like CrackShot, where shooting with a high damage weapon can instantly kill you if you're too close. |
