Honestly, I don't find that really smart. It'd be easier to simply use a ShieldMeta, or BannerMeta (for shields, of course.) |

As I said above and as the stack trace says, it's a BlockStateMeta. So use that and set the state to a banner. |

What about it didnt work? Its a blockstate meta, you attach the ban er as the state. |

Banner meta is applicable to shields. |
